Flying overnight from London via Frankfurt & Johannesburg to Inhambame International Airport where you will be met by Tofo Scuba for the short transfer to Tofo Beach. Accommodation is in a guesthouse actually on the beach and next to the dive shop. The five twin/double rooms of the modern guest house are all en suite and there is a communal lounge and balcony. Breakfast is included and served at the excellent restaurant next door at Tofo Scuba. Five dinners including a brai at the guest house are included as well as one meal at a local restaurant, leaving two nights for you venture into the local village and explore the culinary delights of Tofo.
Tofo Scuba is a PADI FIVE STAR IDC/CDC resort consistently rated excellent on tripadvisor. It is situated on the beach with it’s own restaurant. Operated by the owners & their very professional staff, Tofu Scuba provides a safe, efficient dive adventure in one of the best dive locations in the world. The diving is spectacular, with an enormous variety and abundance of sea life, from the amazingly graceful manta rays and huge and curious whale sharks for which Tofo is famous, to a myriad of benthic, macro reef life as well as pelagic sea life.
The dive sites range in depth from 10 meters to 37 meters and sometimes the current may be strong. All the diving is from a rib and the launching of the rib from the beach can be a strenuous activity. Whilst Tofo Scuba caters for all experience levels, this holiday is more suited to those qualified to AOW or equivalent. Free Nitrox is available for all dives, certification for this and other qualifications are available at Tofo Scuba’s excellent dive school.
Tofo’s biggest attractions are the abundance of Manta Rays and Whale Sharks that can be seen on most of our reefs. All the dive sites feature an abundance of coral and are all reef dives.
Generally the visibility is between 10 and 30 metres with an average of 20 metres. The water temperature in the Indian Ocean varies from 29 to 23 C. Whilst It is still warm and sunny, July is winter in Mozambique, at this time the water is at its coolest & the visibility at its least. However this is Humpback season and these fascinating creatures can be seen regularly from the beach. Whale watching becomes incidental to the diving and if you are very lucky, you may even see one underwater.
The itinerary includes 12 dives most of which will be double tank dives. A day off is scheduled at the end of week to rest before we embark on the next stage of your adventure, the African Safari.
